Hammer the Inlet

Hammersley Inlet is a narrow 6 mile inlet in south Puget Sound known for it’s swift tidal current. The inlet is also known for oysters, great views and it’s access to Hope Island at the entrance to the Sound.

You’ll start at slack in Shelton and paddle past Cape Horn to a turn a round marker and take the flood current back.

The event is Co-hosted by the Shelton Yacht Club who will provide parking, water access, restrooms and on-water support.

Who Should Sign up? 

– Open to experienced outrigger, prone, stand up paddle board, sea kayak, surf ski and rowers.

– We will require all racers to wear a PFD (except prone) and be dressed for immersion, all standup paddleboard, surf ski and outrigger participants must have a leash attached.

– Must know how to remount your craft, paddle in wind and bumps.

– Must have basic swim skills and have the physical ability and experience to complete a 11 mile race.
