Accessibility

Explore Hood Canal wants everyone to be able to plan a trip to Hood Canal and Mason County, including visitors who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, captions or other assistive technology.

Our goal
We’re working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the widely used standard for accessible websites.

What we’re doing

  • Adding descriptive text to photos so screen readers can describe them

  • Fixing broken links and making page titles and headings clear

  • Checking color contrast and text size on new pages

  • Reviewing the site regularly as we add events, stories and listings

What may not be accessible yet

  • Some older photos don’t have descriptions yet. We’re adding them as we update pages.

  • Some content comes from other services, including maps, social media posts, PDF guides and partner websites. We can’t always control how accessible those are, but we’ll help you get the information another way.
