Chum Salmon Migration at Bayshore Preserve
Date: This fall (seasonal viewing)
Location: Bayshore Preserve, 3800 WA-3, Shelton, WA
Admission: Free | Family-friendly

Each fall, one of the Pacific Northwest’s most awe-inspiring natural events takes place at Bayshore Preserve in Shelton. Thousands of chum salmon return from the Pacific Ocean to Johns Creek, the very waters where their lives began, to complete their life cycle.

Visitors can witness this incredible migration up close, watching the salmon make their way upstream to spawn and ensure the next generation. Salmon docents will be available on-site to share fascinating insights into salmon behavior, their life cycle, and the restoration efforts that keep this ecosystem thriving.

To enhance the experience, underwater cameras will provide rare views of the salmon below the surface. Families are encouraged to bring children and enjoy this educational, hands-on way to connect with nature.

Don’t forget your polarized glasses for the clearest view in the creek. This event is free and open to the public, making it a perfect autumn outing for all ages.
