Tide Pool Exploring Kayaking Tour

  • 306146 U.S. 101 Brinnon, WA, 98320 United States (map)

Hood Canal Adventures offers a Biologist- and Naturalist-guided Tide Pool Exploring Kayaking Tour that combines kayaking with up-close exploration of Hood Canal’s intertidal ecosystem. This 2.5-hour tour is designed for all ages and is especially popular with families and anyone curious about marine life.

Launching at low tide, participants paddle along shoreline rock walls and tidelands that are only accessible when the tide is out. Along the way, guests observe a wide variety of marine invertebrates, including sea stars, sea cucumbers, sea anemones, nudibranchs, chitons, moon snails, and crabs.

Wildlife sightings often include bald eagles, small fish, jellyfish, herons, and seals, with occasional sightings of humpback whales, harbor porpoises, California sea lions, and orcas. Guides provide expert interpretation, teaching guests about the animals encountered and the unique tidal habitats of the Hood Canal. The tour also includes opportunities to check on local eagle nests and spot eaglets or fledglings during the season.
