Description
Explore the Oakland Bay estuary after dark, from tiny plankton to the animals living on and below the docks. Underwater lights draw in estuary creatures for close-up viewing. Microscopes reveal the world of plankton, and volunteer naturalists are on hand to help identify what you find. An underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) offers a look into the depths. Costumes are encouraged, so this one is a fun pre-Halloween outing for the whole family.

Preregistration is required because dock capacity is limited. The event is free for all ages. Children 12 and younger must wear a life jacket and be accompanied by an adult, with at least one adult for every two children. The event involves some contact with deep water and isn't recommended for children under 6. Bring your own life jacket if you can, though some are available to borrow.
