LILLIWAUP

Where the Heck is Lilliwaup?

Peppered with serene beaches and surrounded by endless hiking trails, Lilliwaup is all about relaxation – and oysters… and hiking trails!

Originally settled by pioneers in the mid 1800s, it was put on the map in 1890 by the Olympic Exploring Expedition when they used it as the launching point for their epic journey. The team led by Joseph O'Neil aimed to discover a practical route from Hood Canal to the Pacific Ocean and although they couldn't find what they were seeking in the rugged Olympics, O'Neil was instrumental in advocating for the national park we enjoy today.

With great access to year round clam and oyster harvesting, this quaint hamlet is a beach wander’s dream. To bolster your seafood bounty, a nearby fish hatchery keeps the local waters stocked with salmon and oysters are found on nearly every low tide area. But first, work up a sizable appetite on one of the hiking trails just minutes from your door.
