The FEMA-developed CERT curriculum is delivered by Mason County Emergency Management staff across three consecutive days of classroom and hands-on instruction. Modules cover disaster preparedness, fire suppression, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, team organization, and terrorism awareness, ending with a practical exercise. Graduates are equipped to support their households and neighborhoods in the critical hours before professional responders arrive, and may go on to join the county's volunteer CERT roster. Registration is required in advance through Mason County Emergency Management, and the course is offered at no cost to participants.
