Lake Cushman, Washington

Lake Cushman Info & Links

Lake Cushman is a 10-mile-long man-made reservoir nestled in the foothills of Olympic National Forest. Characterized by tall peaks, clear, blue water and alpine beauty, the community springing from the shores of this pristine lake benefit from access to fishing, water sports and views that take one's breath away.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the lake was famous as a hard-to-reach fishing and hunting paradise. Today, it is the fastest growing community in Mason County.

In addition to the hiking trails and campgrounds of the Olympic National Forest, the 3,000+ residents of Lake Cushman have immediate access to the Staircase entrance to Olympic National Park.

Two private lake resorts and campgrounds operate on the shores of Lake Cushman, as well as a nearby public golf course with awesome views of the Olympic peaks. Two small stores and a restaurant provide hot food and provisions.

Margi and I traveled to Staircase to walk the trail. The little bridge was washed out but the water was great and the forest very peaceful. We took several photos of the lake and waterfalls.
