Kamilche, Washington

Kamilche Info & Links

For those traveling from Olympia and Interstate 5, the town of Kamilche is the first community you come to in Mason County. It is the home and tribal center for the Squaxin Island Tribe, a culturally rich people known historically as the People of the Water for their strong connection to the natural beauty and bounty of Puget Sound going back hundreds of years.

At Kamilche, a visit to the Squaxin Island Tribe's Home of Sacred Belongings is not to be missed. Art, artifacts and cultural displays at the tribe's Museum Library and Research Center provide an awe-inspiring glimpse into Pacific Northwest life as it was lived and cherished centuries ago.

The tribe also owns and operates Little Creek Casino and Resort, plainly visible from the Highway 101 Kamilche exit. The popular casino has recently expanded its gaming and hotel facilities, built a huge concert and entertainment hall, and is currently adding a championship golf course. Near the casino is the Kamilche Visitor Center, with tips and information for visitors to Mason County and South Puget Sound.
