Dewatto Bay, Washington

Dewatto Bay Info & Links

Tiny and secluded, Dewatto Bay looks out across Hood Canal toward the jagged shoulders of Mt. Washington in the Olympics, at 6,255 feet, the highest point in Mason County.

Dewatto Bay offered shelter to log booms and logging operations on the Tahuya Peninsula in the early 1900s. Located at the end of a long road running south from Belfair, the area is just recently becoming populated and new homes are being built on the steep slopes above the bay.

Dewatto is near camping, fresh water lakes and hiking/ORV trails in Tahuya State Forest. For boaters on Hood Canal, the shoreline near Dewatto Bay provides opportunity to watch nesting eagles and osprey.
