Chainsaw Carving
chainsaw carving

Colorful and modern examples of chainsaw carving can be viewed in the center of Allyn, at George Kenny's School of Chainsaw Carving, located on State Route 3 at LakeLand Way. This unique art form, born and perfected in the Pacific Northwest, is now practiced by artisans throughout the world. Allyn offers you the opportunity to watch professional and student chainsaw carvers in action and purchase their work from an extensive onsite gallery.

As you drive into town, you can't miss this place - it's lined with smiling cedar bears of all shapes and sizes and an array of chainsaw sculptures attractively arranged amid the piles of cedar chunks and sawdust. One or more carvers is generally outside with a chainsaw whirrrring away and new sculptures gradually emerging. This is a busy place!

The George Kenny School of Chainsaw Carving has the unique distinction of offering classes to chainsaw carver wannabees.

Each year several carving competitions are held at this busy chainsaw carving school in Allyn, with nationally-ranked competitors vying for prizes. The annual Allyn Days Festival helps showcase the art of chainsaw carving, one of Mason County's growing cultural facets.
