The vibrant, quirky, highly outdoorsy city of Portland is just a quick shot from Hood Canal. Chock full of the wild side’s paddling, hiking, and jogging counterpoints, Portland offers just about everything our neck of the woods can serve up in addition to roughly ten times the adventure buddies to share it with!
Likewise, Seattle is Hood Canal’s sister to the East. Cozied up to the Puget Sound and privy to excellent access to the North Cascades, the outdoor community is strong in the big city. As the flowers bloom and the temperatures rise, adventurers from PDX to SEA and everywhere in between are gearing up summer excursions, and you’re invited to join in! So spruce up your road trip playlist and rally your buds to Outdoor Project’s 2017 Summer Block Party Series!
Summer Block Party Series
Last year, the fine peeps at Outdoor Project hosted just one block party in Portland. It was wildly successful. Over 4,000 people showed up over the course of the evening and together raised over $6,000 for the nonprofit partner, Outdoor School for All! This year proceeds from the Portland party benefit Adventure Without Limits, a company whose core mission is to create adventure opportunity for all regardless of ability, socioeconomic status, gender, ethnicity, or race. We dig it. At the Seattle block party, proceeds benefit SheJumps—a company that actively works towards increasing the involvement of girls and women in outdoor adventure sports. That’s something we can seriously get behind.
35 vendors will adorn the grounds at each party, ranging from big-name outdoor brands to tasty local eats, to adventure experience groups, to us at Explore Hood Canal! Each party is family and dog friendly and is completely free to attend! Keep an eye out for our big turquoise tent emblazoned with “wild side of Washington”—if you come say hi, you might walk away with a prize!
