Getting Skunked

Spring is coming and the month of May explodes with color in Mason County. The leaves explode green and the skunk cabbage poke their yellow heads above the soil along the Skokomish River. You’ll see thousands of these flowery wonders from the the Purdy Canyon Cutoff Road, which is the shortcut between Highway 101 and Route 106. A great day trip for nature lovers. I think their smell is not so bad and rather mild, what do you think? Perhaps their reputation is not deserved.

RAPsody bike ride through Mason County

All road biking enthusiasts take note! The RAPsody ride around Puget Sound will again pass through much of Mason County. Click on the Events tab in this website for more info, and put the 2-day 165-mile ride on your calendar for a weekend in late August 2009! Also, if you’ve been a part of the festivities, we’d love to see some pictures and stories posted on this blog.
