Sea kayaker destination

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

What a great little park — not yet over-run with tourists, and just big enough to offer places to explore on foot and on water. Great for a weekend getaway. You can paddle up the cove or out and around the corner to the broader water and beaches down the Sound. What’s your favorite?

Is it oyster season yet?

We just harvested our first oysters in months- they were delicious. An guess what? The Lilliwaup Store has leftover bacon-wrapped oysters from OysterFest and they are selling them! They are shrinkwrapped and for sale.. I don’t remember how much, but they are priceless as they say. DEEE-LISH-OUS!

Harvest time for local oysters!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

The cool waters of fall are upon us, which means that the oysters are ready for harvest. Did you know that any month with an “R” in it is prime for harvesting shellfish in Mason County? Try Potlatch State Park on Hood Canal at low tide.

I really like this photo. It shows the little stores and shops. I happen to know that the ice cream at this shop is fantastic. Just down the street you can get a great breakfast in a quaint restaurant. The Staircase entrance to the Olympics is just up the street.

Alderbrook Resort in Union

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

I love Alderbrook Resort. They have really done a lot of work on the place.

They did a massive fireworks show over the 4th of July.

I tried to get in but they had sold completely out. Over 1100 people were on the grounds.

Sea Kayakers

This looks like Kim and Carl. They are two of our most active kayakers and outdoors people. This photo was taken near the Theler Wetlands and the Klingel Wetland preserve. The Hood Canal offers unlimited sites for outdoor recreation.

Lakeland Village Golf Course

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Lakeland is a very reasonably priced course that is well maintained. They were awarded the “Chamber Applauds” designation this summer from the North Mason Chamber of Commerce for having such a beautiful course and club house.

The course is surrounded by nice homes and is part of the very quaint waterfront town of Allyn. The web address of Lakeland Village is http://www.lakelandliving.com/x108.xml
