This looks like Kim and Carl. They are two of our most active kayakers and outdoors people. This photo was taken near the Theler Wetlands and the Klingel Wetland preserve. The Hood Canal offers unlimited sites for outdoor recreation.

I have been kayaking further north on the canal, and had a great time. Is Theler the best “first” place to do South Hood Canal Kayaking?

There are lots of good places in the area, although the tides are definitely a consideration. We did a nice paddle out of Jarrell Cove State Park. Our 3-year-old went with us in the boats, and it was a perfect location.

my girlfriend and I like launching out of Belfair State Park or the boat launch off north shore road. The north shore launch puts you right into the easy flowing Union River, so you can paddle both the canal and the river. The state park is nice because of the big parking lot and restrooms there, but it can be a really long carry if the tides are out. The water gets pretty warm there in the summer.
