Wide grassy lawns, two year-round streams, and gentle access to the waters of Hood Canal make this a great place for an outing. Families are drawn to the picnic areas, wide grassy areas, and summer salt water warm enough for wading and swimming. Although winter floods took out the play structures, plenty of picnic tables dot the park, and the warm waters of the canal and the clear flow of Mission Creek remain shallow enough for little explorers. The adjoining lawn areas are perfect for frisbee, picnicking and other play. Visitors also enjoy fishing, shellfishing, kite flying and sea kayaking to the nearby Union River estuary. If the winds pick up, watch in awe as kiteboarders skim across the water pulled by enormous brightly colored kites.
The day-use area is open year-round. Click here for updated information on camping at the park. When the campground is open, overnight visitors can find tent and RV sites near the shore and nestled beneath stately evergreens. The campground also serves as a popular base camp for mountain bikers and ORV enthusiasts who come to ride on the Tahuya State Forest trail system.
Dining and shopping opportunities await visitors just a three miles up the road in Belfair.
