Music Festivals

Annas Bay Music Festival

The Annas Bay Music Festival is held every year in Union, the site of Washington State's first arts colony. The mission of the festival is to reintroduce the immediacy and excitement of classic music and salon-style performance to modern audiences. Featuring two in-house professional ensembles (the Annas Bay Chamber Choir and South Shore Chamber Orchestra) as well as opera and solo vocal programs, Annas Bay provides world-class musical experiences in intimate settings of spectacular natural beauty.

A typical season runs from April through December, with several original performances over the course of a year. Memberships offer price discounts over single performance rates.

For performance schedules, membership information, and to learn more, contact www.annasbay.org or call 360-898-5000.

Location: 7362 E. State Route 106, Union, Wa.

Bluegrass from the Forest

A high-spirited, annual celebration of Bluegrass music, held the last weekend in April at the Shelton High School Auditorium (North 3737 Shelton Springs Road) in Shelton. Performers and schedules vary from season to season, with talent coming from as far away as Portland, OR and Canada.

The event is sponsored by the Krismastown Kiwanis, with a percentage of the proceeds going to local community projects.

For information on tickets, performances and times, please call 360-898-4581 or visit http://www.sheltonchamber.org/bluegrass.htm.

Old Time Fiddlers Fest

A Shelton tradition, the Old Time Fiddlers Fest is also a chief fundraiser for SOCK, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe, structured and mentored after-school activities for local youth and youth at risk.

The Old Time Fiddlers Fest is truly a celebration of old style fiddle tunes and performers, with an eclectic line-up of talent each year, including harmonica quartets and other original acts.

The Fest happens the first weekend in April, with performances at the Shelton High School Auditorium (North 3737 Shelton Springs Road) and a talent show and fiddlers??? jam at the Shelton Armory, at 601 West Franklin, downtown, Shelton.

Tickets for the Old Time Fiddlers Fest can be acquired by calling SOCK at 360-432-0815 or visiting www.sock.org/fiddlefest/ online.
